The task of understanding the mind is as tricky as it is for a policeman to catch the thief and the thief is none other than himself. We use the mind to study about the mind in order to fix itself. Buddha And His Realization About The Mind



Traditionally, Indian Masters believed that enlightenment could be achieved by controlling mind and body as they both are source of suffering.

The Buddha realized that tightly controlling mind and torturing body did suppress desires, but only while he was practicing. This was temporary. It did not eradicate the craving mind entirely. As soon as he stopped practicing, desire returned with force.

The Buddha had come to understand the need to employ a meditation method that used a totally different approach — a method that would include both mind and body and eliminated the controller.

On the morning of his awakening, the Buddha realized that seeing the deepest phenomena of mind is undoubtedly the way to Nibbāna.

By seeing how his own mind worked and closely observing the mental processes, he grew to understand that we all cause our own suffering! He saw how desire works, how it leads to suffering, and how the cessation of suffering can be achieved.

The Buddha realized that desires arise because we feed them and continually chase after them. We see them as ours and personally identify with them.

If you are sitting quietly and your mind goes to thinking about how nice it would be to be somewhere else, can you stop it? Can you just say, “that’s ok mind, I’d like to sit quietly and enjoy some peace this afternoon.” No — here come the desire.

It is not “our” desire. Because we personally identify with these desires that we experience, thinking of them as “mine,” and then become attached to them, this craving inevitably leads to suffering.

We have no control over how or when they arise, or how or when they pass away. Craving and suffering occur because we identify with and personalize these desires and then cling to them.

Dependent origination is the understanding that all things in both body and mind are conditioned. They are conditioned or caused by what came before, and they inevitably lead to what happens next.

By seeing this dependent originated chain of events clearly, we see that everything is impersonal. In fact, there is no possibility of control because there is no continuous or permanent “self” capable of being the controller.

The Buddha saw that there are only processes arising and passing away with no permanent self involved.

Who controls anything? Who makes the decisions? Even “decision” itself is another conditioned mental process which arises based on previous actions.

Decisions aren’t made by some permanent self who has control of what’s happening; they are “the impersonal you” at that moment.

Our only possible input is to recognize the reality of this situation and not to take it personally, not to be “attached” to the outcome of any given situation.

The Buddha realized that he could not break through to awakening by controlling either mind or body independently. He understood that mind and body worked together.

The Buddha taught, in the suttas that concentration (samatha) is yoked together with insight (vipassanā). Samatha and vipassanā, therefore, must be practiced together.




Mechanics Of Brain



Default mode network (DMN) is active when we’re not thinking about anything, in particular, is associated with being less happy, ruminating, and worrying about the past and future. Often called Demon, Monkey Mind, Centre of Gravity.

DMN is active when we watch movies, social media browsing because we're not thinking anything in particular

Task positive network (TPN) is active when the brain is engaged in a task, conversation, or other activity that required focus.

Delta Brainwaves - Frequency: 0.5-4 Hz. states: Sleep, dreaming the slowest of all brainwaves, and are strongest when we are enjoying restorative sleep in a dreamless state.

Theta Brainwaves - Frequency: 4-8 Hz, states: Creativity, insight, dreams, reduced consciousness in routine tasks like brushing teeth, showering

Alpha Brainwaves - Frequency: 8-13 Hz, states: Physically and mentally relaxed, Yoga, Just before falling asleep, Being creative and artistic

Beta Brainwaves - Frequency: 13-32 Hz, states: Active conversation, Making decisions, Solving a problem, Focusing on a task, Learning a new concept, when we’re busy thinking actively

Gamma Brainwaves - Frequency: 32 – 100 Hz, states: ‘heightened perception’, or a ‘peak mental state’ when there is simultaneous processing of information from different parts of the brain, observed in very long-term meditators

Activity of sympathetic nervous system is activated when an animal feels that there is a threat for life. If a lion is chasing the deer, then SNS of the deer activates its fear and makes it to run fast.

But as human beings evolved from being an animal to human, the SNS gets activated even for trivial issues and makes human beings to suffer.

Rewiring the brain through meditation or self-inquiry may be the way to get rid of this human suffering.

Dopamine, happiness instigator through motiviation, is released when we get rewards from finishing a task or something we get after working hard.

Dopamine creates is want. Dopamine causes us to seek, desire, and search.

Dopamine is stimulated by unpredictability, by small bits of information, and by reward cues. The pull of dopamine is so strong that studies have shown tweeting is harder for people to resist than cigarettes and alcohol.

Endorphin, happiness instigator through physical activity, is released after we have completed an exercise routine / laugh.

Oxytocin, happiness instigator through bonding, is released when people snuggle up or bond socially.

Serotonin, happiness instigator through nature, is released when we feel, hear, experience a good thing - exposure to nature, sunlight

Left brain functions: Logic, Rational, Analytical

Right brain functions: Emotions, Creativity, Imagination, Intuition

Gamma when you’re engaged in certain motor functions

Beta when you’re fully conscious and actively concentrating

Alpha wave is generated when you’re relaxed

Mechanics Of Heart



Science studies discovered that the heart has its "little brain" or "intrinsic cardiac nervous system.

This "heart brain" is composed of approximately 40,000 neurons that are alike neurons in the brain, meaning that the heart has its own nervous system.

The heart is not just a pump.




Nature Of Intellect



The human is byproduct of millions of years's evolution. So does the human's intellect.

The intellect is like a sword. You can use it for the most powerful utility as well as the most dangerous knife which can kill yourself.

If you hold it wrongly or move irresponsibly, you'll cut yourself.

When something sharp is given to you, you must learn how to hold it. You must practise handling it with great care.

Yet people are complaining about the mind and intellect. Majority of people can't handle their mind. Because they don't know the nature of the mind that is similar to the sword.

The notion of the mind intellect is like a ninja throwing star and it's moving constantly all the times.

A large majority of human being is suffering due to their own intellect. Their own intellect has taken over their life and destroying them.

Whatever happens - good, bad, ugly, unexpected, non-sense, , assume it's your responsibility because it's 100% how you think, assume, react, and believe.

Whatever happens and whatever did not happen, assume it's your responsibility.

If you see that is your sole responsibility, there will only be one person - you. You'll no longer blame yourself, your inner negative voices, god, evil spirits, your past life Karmas or any other people and situations.




Inclination Of Mind



The mind enjoys learn things that are never known before.

The mind likes to get comfortable. That's why a success formula says 'go out of comfort zone'.

The mind likes to run away from stresses and troubles.

The mind likes to get addicted to stuff that creates peacefulness and good feeling.




Nature Of Mind



Most of us experience the mind as a continuous and seemingly unstoppable train of thoughts running through our heads. Behind this incessant flow lies a sophisticated web of likes, dislikes, attitudes, habits, inhibitions, morals… and so on and so forth.

There is no division in the mind. There are only addition and multiplication. If someone says don't think about sun/moon/ocean/beach, we immediately mentally see those things even if we try harder not to think about them.

Dwelling on the past or fearing the future. This prevents us from enjoying the present. The past is gone, and the future is the product of our present thinking and actions. The only time that exists is now, the present moment.

The mind stays in past or future 90% of the times while 10% roaming aimlessly on random topics based on external distractions. If we are looking at life only through our mind, then we will make our future just like the past.

The mind is flooded with involuntary thoughts in middle of doing something entirely different.

The mind is addicted to instant gratification.

The mind is unable to let go for certain matters even after reaching a conclusion or finding a solution. The mind seems to go on thinking on the same subject over and over again.

The mind is bored with same things and thus it needs a variety or ever-increasing stuff to be satisfied. In fact, the desire is endless and go on to next level after it has satisified with one level.

Voices in the head are often in opposition to each other. Changes frequently. We're just fulfilling the order that is influencing more than any other at any moment.

Constantly analyzing ourselves and other people's situations, reactions and behaviors.

Constantly looking for emotion-triggered things to consume. That's why we use all digital entertainments and eat good food around.

Polluted mind has much curiosity over news, people and external factors, despite not being related and useful.

Polluted mind constantly desires something to think about. It can't stay emptying. Definitely it has to think something every time.

Polluted mind doesn't want to stay focused. It constantly has to jump from one thought another.

Polluted mind generates mental pain even if we don't ask for it. Stressful situations in life are unavoidable but suffering is 100% made insides the mind. Any kind of unpleasantness in our mind means our mind is working against us.

The mind generates stress and depression (without we asking for them) which are simply illusions because regardless of whether we have them or not, we have to move on with our life.

The mind generates new thoughts and desires related to and based on nature and types of activities that you did in all previous days. Alternatively, if you do only positively tasks, your new thoughts and desires will form round those positive tasks only.

The mind generates thoughts based on or within the boundary of information controlled, distributed, manipulated and shared by societies, businesses, and governments.

We accumulate the content of our mind just by our exposure and impressions of what enters us through 5-sense organs.

Right now what we call our mind is not our mind;just society's garbage bin. Everything in our mind is just what we've been exposed to.

Our mind always finds things to do that keep it busy or entertained. The urge to do something is the biggest source of our miseries. We cannot just do ‘nothing’.

Our mind is in constant state of compulsiveness and interprets all communications in auto pilot. And it is skillful in exaggerating situations more than actuality.

Our mind is in constant state of flux: sometimes restless, sometimes dull, yet at other times focused, calm and clear.

Our mind creates the solid perfect illusion of our own world centred round our feeling and emotion based on whatever we do - studying, working, doing spirituals., anything.

Our mind loves to stay in negative past situations - The more we re-visit the trauma in our mind, the more we're making it strong and real. Then the trauma is re-inforced and we get traumatised.

Years of busy mind, of creating and maintaining dramas, of stresses and confusions, and the mind has no idea how to be still. Rather, it craves distraction and entertainment.

Our mind repeatedly thinks about new desire one after another that has not been fulfilled yet.

Our mind tends to blame/see things from negative points of views even if there are positive aspects, even if the other party is doing good things.

Our mind inherits emotion and behavioral patterns learnt from parents (Science has proved it - https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/fearful-memories-passed-down ) and people from environments we've been through.

Our thoughts repeat themselves by recycling most recent happenings, interactions, stuff that we learn. We seldom remember something that happened 10 years ago.

Our mind is constantly comparing ourselves with other people's situations and possessions.

The mind operates on autopilot mode like robots (that can react only to only programmed instructions). Our mind is so much predictable in reacting to things.

Our mind demands logical reasons when it comes to doing good things such as meditation. But it never asks questions when it comes to bad things: it complies immediately.

Our mind fools us that stress is good and essential thus we keep unknowingly invite them in our life.

The same mind is fresh, energetic, and artistic in a child and yet, completely lethargic, conditioned and burdened with memories in an adult.

Even when we're alone and unhappy, that means our mind is in bad company with us. By right when we're alone, we must be blissful. Leave our boss, husband, wife, kids, social circle.

Why is it that the mind, which is the most miraculous instrument in our life, has also become such a misery-manufacturing machine? Every kind of misery that we are going through is manufactured in our minds.

Sometimes, the mind is like a hidden Ninja or a bullet from sniper gun. The only time you get aware is when you get killed by reactivities, compulsiveness of life.

The thinking mind and the feeling body thus become a prison within which most people spend their lives.

That's why the mind is both the cause of suffering and liberation.

Meditation makes it possible to transcend that default complex nature of mind so that it only clean mind exists to serve you more.

Mind means activities or restlessness. Where there's a peace, there's no mind.

If you control your mind, that controller is a thought, the controlled thought is also another thought. It just means one thought is controlling another thought.

Desire is a thought with a certain amount of energy. If there is much energy, it will lead you to take action.

Good and bad, virtue and sin are only the on the level of mind.

Our entire lives are spent at the place of equilibrium between trying to get comfortable and escaping away from pain.




Nature Of Negative Emotions

Emotion is like a magical lice. Unconsciousness/non-awareness is like a blood for the magical lice.

The lice always wants blood to survive. People are daily looking for emotion-triggered things to consume.

Once the lice draws enough blood, it turns into a giant mythical creature, Dementor, a soulless evil, that swallows you right away.

The Dementor then grows like fungus, multiplying themselves.

When the lice turns into Dementor, a person's become a slave of feelings and emotions. Once he gets trapped into emotions, it just goes on endlessly in the Dementor's created illusory world.

People are daily living in Dementor's created illusory world centred round feelings and emotions based on whatever they do - reacting to everything around them, looking for pleasing of life whilst adversing badness of life.

If you stop feeding the lice, the lice will be weakened and will not be turned into the Dementor. But to kill it, you need Vipassana insights meditation.

People misterpret reality because they look at the reality from conditioning of their feelings and emotions. That's why conflicts arise.

When our intelligence is low, what we are told is there's no right and wrong answer. In fact, we're simply seeing things from our conditioned minds.

Nature Of Intuition

Intuition doesn't come from conditioning of your mind and feelings.

Intuition comes from being present in the moment so that you know the best possible route to select for next action items.

Intuition is not usually tainted by negativities such anger or fear.

There's no nervous energy behind your feeling of intuition




Aggregates Of Mind And Body



Buddhism believes that a person is a combined cluster of elements.

There is no permanent entity as ‘a person’.

It is merely a name for a combination of component parts: the 5 aggregates (Bodhi, 2007).

They include body (matter), feeling, perception, mental formation and consciousness.

Except for the body, the other four aggregates are related to the mind.

Feeling, perception and mental formation are regarded as mental factors while the consciousness is the mind.

We think of ourselves as having a permanent identity or ‘I’ because we identify to the moment-to-moment processes of changing phenomena.

Although people live in the same block of building near a busy road, they may react very differently to the traffic noise.

Some find the traffic noise very annoying while others find that the noises do not bother them at all.

This is because of citta.

Every moment we receive millions of signals from our sense organs.

We see things, we hear things and we touch things.

However, citta does not come into contact with every signal.

So, residents are aware of the noise because of the citta.

As citta cognizes the sound waves, the seven universal mental factors must arise.

With the perception that the sound waves are traffic noise, unpleasant feeling is generated simultaneously (but some might have neutral feeling).

For others, the object is there and the door is there, but the consciousness is missing.

Therefore, there is no contact and no awareness.

Time Zone Of The Mind



The mind never stays in this moment, at present, at now.

This moment is inevitable and timeless. If we're sitting right now, we can't be standing at the same time. Nobody can change it RIGHT NOW. The way it is now is the way it is.

This moment is regardless of time, place and people. This moment in US is inevitable as this moment in Asia right now, at this moment. This moment is available to everyone.

How long does this moment last? It's just a fraction of one second.

The mind can't recognize and know this moment. The mind can only be aware of it. The moment we know it, the time has passed and it's become the PAST. This moment is happening only ONCE to us.

Our physical life is always happening in this MOMENT. But our stupid mind is never in this MOMENT. Our mind is constantly feeding up on the past and excreting in the future.

Overactive mind is simply an attempt to get away from the present moment. Thinking itself is an addicted behavoir and pseudo sense of self. The more you think, the more you keep on thinking.

What happened ten years ago can still hurt us. What may happen the day after tomorrow is already hurting us. We always suffer from what doesn't exist. Daily we're expecting that we will be happy ONLY IF things happen the way we want.

Substainable happiness happens only when we're FULLY accepting what is here in THIS MOMENT. If we accept what is here at any moment and move on our life, we're happy forever.

Awareness and acceptance of this moment will prevent any negative emotions from happening.

This moment if you are willing, you can make yourself very joyful and pleasant. This moment if you want, you can make yourself very unpleasant and miserable. You own it 100%. No evil spirits can prevent you from making that choice.

So the choice is always there, every moment. Most of the time, you don’t exercise this choice because you exist in a compulsive way, as a reaction to many internal thoughts and external things around you.

This MOMENT is the only DOORWAY to truly experience happiness. The rest is hallucination. If you're not in this moment, life just bypasses you.

Yesterday is not alive now so it doesn't exist. It just simply exists in our memory. Our mind is simply a recording storage of what we've been experiencing on daily basis.

Our past is just memory. Our future is just imagination. If we're not in this moment, we're just hallucinating.

The future and the past do not exist now as such we're dealing with the non-existence as if it is a reality. Mind is the basis of this whole illusion. And it stays in this time zone every moment.

Sense the presence of the Present.

Thought never stays in the present because in the present moment that thought dies away rapidly.




Nature Of Thoughtless Moment



Observe any beautiful things like the high mountain valleys or a beautiful sunset.

If you observe them very clearly, there is no thought present, there is no mind present at that moment. That beauty surrounds us and the mind dies for some time over there.

And again after sometime the Mind recovers and our problems with our problems with memories and it again disturbs us.

The mind takes us back to illusions, the world of the endless streams of thoughts one after another whereby we fail to see the beauty of the world which is obscured by constant thinking.

We live in our minds mostly constantly judging analyzing the situation in front of us analyzing the environment in front of us analyzing every particular moment in front of us.

Our thoughts decide our actions But I had a great doubt that.

Who acts when there is no thought? Who is the actor behind all this? Behind our actions,  I can only say that the intelligence which runs in our blood streams pumping the blood from that tip of the hair to the tip of The toe.

The intelligence which Digest our food and provide nutrients to our body the same intelligence acts when there is a no mind situation. The body acts spontaneously; actions are without thinking.

With the birth of thought there is a birth of the world. As soon as the thought rises up in our mind, the world Rises up in our mind as soon as the thoughts settle down the world settles down.

I think there is nothing such as a positive thought or a negative thought. It doesn't make a lot of difference.

If you are thinking about a beautiful house or God whereas thinking about God may seem great for many of us.

But really, can you think about God? Whatever you will think will be in the field of known.

An occupied mind can’t touch the sacred.

Now if I ask you a very simple yet profound question, what are you Before the beginning of thought? Who are you between two thoughts? Don’t go after a peaceful mind.

I will give a simple analogy to you guys that when the water is Muddy. Doing something in that water won't make the water clear.

The water will be clear only when I leave it as it is and the mud will settle down completely In Sometime.

Similarly Why do  you want to calm the mind? Who are you to calm the mind? Are you different from the mind? Have you asked such types of questions? Have you inquired into this? The Entity that wants to calm the mind is also an intrinsic process of the Min

A thought wants to calm another thought, which is not possible. The only way two gets into no mind state is to leave the Mind alone. So the real meditation is about doing nothing.

After all, there are only the Stillness and the Movement. The Stillness moves the movement; the movement moves the Stillness.

They are trying to eat each other up if you have seen the symbol. But They are like playing a beautiful game of hide-and-seek with each other.

Finally the Seeker in Zen doesn't try to find the answers. He just tries to lose all the questions. I mean, why do you want to know who does the actions or who does everything?

Instead of fighting with your flaws, your imperfections Just accept who you are at this very moment right now and see just for a minute.

Accept everything as it is and see what happens. Embrace the silence behind your thoughts embrace the silence behind your chattering.

Embrace your real nature - the essence of your being which is present in everything. Embrace your lusty thoughts, anger issues, jealousies, envy and any other emotion you are withholding right now as it is.




Nature Of Desire



Desire is a basic human nature. To move from point A to point B, we need a desire.

It's not sustainable to kill all desires. No desire, no life. Even in body chemistry, atoms are binding. Without bondage, we will cease to exist.

Whatever we've been exposed to as part of knowing or learning it from someone or media, we'll be desiring that object - status, luxury, power, car, money, wealth, ..etc

Wherever and whenever in our life, we're always desiring something.

The basis of all human misery is unfulfilled desire - life is not happening the way we want.

Even by reducing the size of desire, we can't reduce the size of suffering and escape from suffering of misery.

Even if we say "I don't want any desire", it's still a desire. It'll always be unfulfilled desire.

Desire has boundless nature. Once a desire has been fulfilled, we'll be driven to next higher desire. It'll keep on driving us.

Desires will always running as a consequence of thought or on their owns.

Desire is just one expression of thought process.

Whatever thought we are in, there is some kind of desire in it. Check this out carefully.

Thought process itself is a desiring process.

Intensity of action is ignited only through intensity of desire.

Desire is not the problem; just it's happening compulsively, which is the problem. If it's happening consciously, desire will not be the problem.

How we handle our desire consciously or compulsively puts us in happiness or misery.

Compulsiveness is cyclical. Once mind and desires are let in compulsively, consequences of not fulfilling such desire are repeatedly torturing us.

Something that happened will not cause us misery immediately. How we react to it compulsively does give us misery.

At the end of every day, we're the ones who torture ourselves the most.

The world is run by desire or we can say that desire is the fuel to run the world.

You may recall the Buddha's Words, which he said or the sutras of its primary teaching was Desire is the root of suffering.

Life is just the play of energy which never had a beginning or has no end.




Nature Of Craving



Craving is the strong, passionate desire for both material and immaterial objects: sex, food, growth of wealth, money, fame, power, or knowledge.

This passionate craving is attention directing and a motivational magnetic force centered around the heart area.

Craving makes you think the object and feeling are permanent and satisfactory. It obfuscates reality and idealize the object of our attraction.

Craving seeks expression, where the physical appearance and attributes of one object ignite emotions of intense interest and excitement in another.

Implicit memory plays a primary role in the process of falling in craving and resides in your unconscious mind. Researchers have found that people are affected by early impressions that are not consciously remembered.

Craving is known as Taṇhā in Buddhism, either physical or mental. It has three types: craving for sensual pleasures,craving for existence and craving for non-existence - https://encyclopediaofbuddhism.org/wiki/Tanha

Craving encompasses not only the desire to get something but its opposite, the desire to get rid of it.

Contemporary Buddhist teacher Chogyam Trungpa emphasizes the non-deliberate quality of tanha. Obsessions, compulsions, and addictions are desires out of control, craving gone wild. Tanha nourishes the karmic potency that will produce the next lifetime.

We could actually say to somebody literally, "I don't know what happened, I just did it. It just happened to me. It just happens to me constantly." ...

It's instant craving, rather than deliberate craving as such. At that level, there's no intellectualization at all involved.

Craving means deprivation, not having. We do not want things we have, we only want things we don't have. Thirst is the desire for water and it occurs in the absence of water. Hunger is the feeling of lacking food.

Greed has desire in it, obviously; anger has desire in it; fear has desire in it; confusion, has desire in it. Stress has desire in it, worry has desire in it, anxiety, etc.

The end of Taṇhā occurs when the person has accepted the "transcendent right view" through the insight into impermanence and non-self.

Liberation is being non-reactive to the sensation and reducing pre- conditioned reaction.

Passion starts from repetition of an activity - be it physical actions or mental thoughts. They can be good and bad. People can develop passion into anything.

Obsession is a disorder expression of passion. It's passion out of proportion.

Any obsessions come with addicticted behaviors. Any person with obsession towards something never feels enough of that something.

Workaholic - work until midnight and every moment - feeling stil not accomplished enough.

Shoe lover with 30 pair of shoes still feeling not enough.

People who're worry-prone started their habit from a single worrying circumstance that happens to repeat multiple time over a continual period, causing the habit.

People who always tend to complain started their habit from an unhappy circumstance that happens to repeat multiple times over a continual period, causing the habit.

High achieving athletes who win gold metal every year still feel depressed because they feel there's nothing higher than gold metal.

Obsession creates excessive emotions and reactions. It makes a person do hyperinvestment. It demands high mental energies and thus it's exhausting.

Nature Of Ego



The ego is a pesky little thing with hair-triggered reaction.

The moment you become aware of the ego in you, it is strictly speaking no longer the ego, but just an old, conditioned mind-pattern. Ego implies unawareness. Awareness and ego cannot coexist.

The ego is self-appointed and its functions is to get what you need from the world, to prevent you from losing what you have, and to preserve your self-image.

The ego feeds the fear and it watches out for threats everywhere. This fear and hypersensitivity of ego naturally invent competitions and auto-judgements for people and situations which are are seen as threats.

The ego constantly instantiates inner voice in form of inner-critics to make you better.

There are countless quotes telling us to find and follow our “inner voice.”. This is fine if it's to discover our true nature of personality but not for critics.

Because the inner critic often produces feelings of shame, deficiency, low self-esteem, and depression It may also cause self-doubt and undermine self-confidence.

Reactivity and compulsiveness are the ego's device, causing frictions in everything we do within ourselves, people and situations.

All these activities strengthen the strength of ego, psychologically speaking, sense of self.

The ego constructs a narrative to form a story around every possible people and situations.

The ego loves to complain stuff to the other people as a form of satisfaction.

The ego loves being offended.

The Ego will keep your mind busy to be full of plans, events and scenarios throughout your entire life.

Once consciousness is opened up in you, you’ll finally accept that you’re responsible for everything happening in your life because everything as thought or emotional form is created within you.

Love removes incorrect emotion which causes the problem. The flow of love is mostly blocked by the Ego.

The Ego prevents us from opening up to our full consciousness by keeping the chatters running in our mind as well as running useless self-destructive subconscious mind programs without we even asking them to happen.

When we start ignoring the Ego, it starts going away. Love will then flow more freely in our life.

Once you've removed the Ego through meditation, you'll find that there's nothing outsides of you except the mind's created illusion.

Our job is to get rid of Ego so that we can go home to Universal Consciousness.




Nature Of Thoughts



According to the National Science Foundation, an average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Of those, 80% are negative and 95% are repetitive thoughts.

Thoughts are words you repeat in your mind, comments the mind makes, repeating what you heard said, questions, answers and a lot of senseless wandering thoughts that you might not even be aware of.

Dig deeper and write more thoughts about: Your fears, Your insecurities, Your losses, Things that stress you out regularly, Things that irritate you about other people

If watered over time, repeated positive or negative thoughts can grow and manifest into an actual reality, be it positive or not.

If we repeat those negative thoughts, we think negative way more than we think positive thoughts.

If we take the time and write down all the thoughts that pass through our mind, we could write a book each day.

If you pay attention to random or autopilot thoughts, you would be amazed to discover that most of them are useless, unimportant thoughts that pass through the mind with a huge speed.

In normal, daily life, you might not always be aware of this endless thinking. Most of this thinking is an automatic process, a mental habit.

It is only when you need to focus on some particular thing that you become aware of the many thoughts that keep distracting your focus and attracting your attention.

It will become part of your thinking process. Whenever you think of a negative thought, counter it with a positive one.

Just think how much better focus you could possess, if thoughts did not bother you.

Just think how much energy and time you could have saved, if you could reduce the number of your thoughts.

Just think how much inner peace, calmness and happiness you would have enjoyed, if there was a way to stop all these thoughts, which add nothing to your life.

Locus of control is the degree to which people believe that they, as opposed to external forces (beyond their influence), have control over the outcome of events in their lives.

Mind over matter is a situation in which someone is able to control a physical condition, problem, etc., by using the mind.

To draw the attention away from these thoughts, people drink, take drugs, or engage themselves in hobbies, activities and entertainment.

Endless flow of thoughts is tiring and exhausting, especially when you are anxious or worried.

The Pygmalion effect, or Rosenthal effect, is the phenomenon whereby others' expectations of a target person affect the target person's performance.

This stream of thoughts goes on when you dress, eat, walk, work, drive, talk, shower or have a bath. It goes on when you are alone and when you are in company. It goes on until you fall asleep. It is like a constant mental noise that goes on and on.

You also get proof of the endless stream of thoughts when you try to study, solve and problem or make a plan. Suddenly, you become aware of the many irrelevant thoughts claiming for your attention.

Meta-awareness or mega-cognition involve getting ourselves aware of what's going on with us – with our thoughts, our feelings, our body sensations and impulses – in each moment. This is so-called mindfulness, the third eye, the mind's eye, or inner eye.

The power of the spoken and unspoken word should never be underestimated. A single spoken word or lone thought can plant a seed in the brain.

A wrong idea, thought, emotion can completely mess up your life.

The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.

Identity Of Thoughts



Mind chattering and thoughts are simply talking to ourselves. Thoughts are a way of communicating to ourselves.

We talk to ourselves whether we should do X or Y.

We talk to ourselves whether we should feel this way or that way.

In all external activities, we seldom do self-talking and focus on external object.

In conversation, we think a topic and then talk. We seldom do self-talk.

During intense focus work, we focus on the particular subject and work toward it. We seldom do self-talk.

Thoughts can be your nearest worst enemy or best friend.

In this self talking, we have two mind - one who just says , and the other who just listens, assumes, accepts and convert the received word to related emotion or conclusion.

Support the type of thinking that leads you to feeling good, peaceful & happy.

Choose thoughts that give you the emotions of being alive and excited about life.

Anything is a product of thinking. Nothing can escape from it.




Thoughts That Generate Worries



All-or-nothing thinking, looking at things in black-or-white categories, with no middle ground. “If everything is not perfect, I’m a total failure.”

Overgeneralization from a single negative experience, expecting it to hold true forever. “I didn’t get hired for the job. I’ll never get any job.”

Focusing on the negatives while filtering out the positives. Noticing the one thing that went wrong, rather than all the things that went right. “I got the last question on the test wrong. I’m an idiot.”

Coming up with reasons why positive events don’t count. “I did well on the presentation, but that was just dumb luck.”

Making negative interpretations without actual evidence. You act like a mind reader: “I can tell she secretly hates me.” Or a fortune teller: “I just know something terrible is going to happen.”

Expecting the worst-case scenario to happen. “The pilot said we’re in for some turbulence. The plane’s going to crash!”

Believing that the way you feel reflects reality. “I feel like such a fool. Everyone must be laughing at me.”

Holding yourself to a strict list of what you should and shouldn’t do and beating yourself up if you break any of the rules. “I should never have tried starting a conversation with her. I’m such a moron.”

Labeling yourself based on mistakes and perceived shortcomings. “I’m a failure; I’m boring; I deserve to be alone.”

Assuming responsibility for things that are outside your control. “It’s my fault my son got in an accident. I should have warned him to drive carefully in the rain.”

Thoughts are something unnecessary most of the times.For life future, we can come out with plan and start taking action. That's all.

Because there are Only very few positivite thoughts exist. only gratitude, metta, positive thinking and, compassion.

Anything bad or good in mind is simply generated in mind itself not something outsides.

Thus, suffering is 100% manufactured by the mind.




Cognitive Dissonance



Cognitive dissonance is an uncomfortable tension resulted from having two conflicting thoughts at the same time, or from engaging in behavior that conflicts with one's beliefs, or from experiencing apparently conflicting phenomena.

In simple terms, it can be the filtering of information that conflicts with what you already believe, in an effort to ignore that information and reinforce your beliefs.

In detailed terms, it is the perception of incompatibility between two cognitions, where "cognition" is defined as any element of knowledge, including attitude, emotion, belief, or behavior.

Contradicting cognitions serve as a driving force that compels the mind to acquire or invent new thoughts or beliefs, or to modify existing beliefs, so as to reduce the amount of dissonance (conflict) between cognitions.

Experiments have attempted to quantify this hypothetical drive.

Some of these have examined how beliefs often change to match behavior when beliefs and behavior are in conflict.




Dimension Of Inner Mind

Day to day we are dealing with complex problems and issues at work and life.

Such solving of issues required dedicated focus which is a realm of inner mind which gives us solutions to break through all barriers.




Perception Of Mind



Reality is what is in absolute term. Perception is knowing this Reality through 5 senses (see, hear, touch, taste, smell) and our memory. Imagine if we lost memory, we have least experience about life. When we sleep, we have no experience of reality.

Five senses gather impressions of life around us and create an isolated realm what we call it reality.

Imagine how toddlers learn the world - noting down words from parents and people around.

All that we've been doing since toddler days to now is measuring and comparing. What happens when you look somewhere and you notice something? You either recognize it or you don’t.

How you recognize something - you compare it with what you have already known through similar observation in the past and have a memory of its association with a name, quality and experience about it.

If you can compare it, you know about it. If you can't, you don’t’ know about it. In any case, your ability to know or not know an observation always includes measurement and comparison.

Sense organs and memory are the only means to our life experience and they're outward-bound, so turning inward and knowing inner dimension of the mind is difficult.




Pain Of Mind



Every creature avoids the pain of punishment and moves away from it. Every creature gets attracted to the joy of rewards and moves towards it.

The cause of pain is never because of the tone of voice, anger, language or any other violent behavior. It is always from the feeling of lack of control.

These are the two basic forces which seem to move this universe. In their extreme sense, you could also call them as life and death. The life is the continuity of attention on movement; death is the end of noticing of movement.

Pain is like death. Pain is far more stronger than pleasure. Pleasure is sometimes a lesser pain. All movement is away from pain. Pleasure is opposite of pain.

As long as an entity is living, everyday decisions are derived from the same underlying force which makes every living creature strive for a life away from its destruction.

The pain is an indication of something destructive and every living being is ‘programmed’ to avoid pain which ultimately seems to take it away from a possible death like situation. It was like a rule. RULE: Pain is like Death.

Humans tend to associate a mental association to pain, which is unique among all other species. For animals, a pain is a physical experience.

Not getting what you need is painful. There are something that the body needs to lose such as toxins and waste matter. Not being able to lose what you don’t need is painful too.

The force of repulsion from pain or death is far stronger than the force of attraction to life or pleasure.

Our everyday behavior is being guided by the two opposite forces, the rewards and the punishments. We continue to run in different directions based on our own interpretation of pleasures and pains.

All effort is towards avoiding death in the present moment. If there is no death in the moment, then it simply doesn’t exist.

The only driving force will be the possible gain or pleasure in the current moment. RULE: The (idea of) death doesn’t matter if it is not in the present moment.

Why do people still smoke and drink alcohol?

Why humans were behaving irrationally? It is all about making decision in the present moment, the ground rule that applies to each and every living creature in this universe.

We said that if there was no pain or death in the present moment, then the decision would be made based on the pleasure or comfort level.

To all the people, if the pain or death is not now, then it is not an issue.

A cancer or a heart attack may cause death, but that is not a possibility in the present moment. All that each living being cares in the moment is the pain or death in the moment, not in the future.

No doubt people do not pay attention to a warning about future danger whether it is about increasing toxicity in the rivers, oceans and underground water or it is about reducing natural resources such as water, oil and food.

As long as the danger is not now, it is not an issue. One in every ten, twenty or a few hundred people might use discretion or think rationally, but we are talking about the majority of humans making decision in a busy world.

Warnings being displayed on the packets of cigarettes about its harmful effects Every person on the earth knows it well that smoking might result in earlier and painful death.

Contrary to what one would expect, none of such warnings have ever stopped anyone to quit smoking habit because it leads to future discomfort. Why? Because this is how all living beings are programmed.

Not choosing to smoke is painful in the present moment; it's like a death.

The harmful effects of smoking might kill in the future, but letting go the opportunity of pleasure in the present moment by skipping smoking is a pain; like a death in the present moment.

As we figured out the rule of life, a movement in the present moment is in the direction to avoid death or seek pleasure in this moment. No warning will ever stop people from doing what they want to do.

It is all about the pain and suffering in the moment that decides the actions I take in that moment.

A motivating message does not largely drive people to do something. Even if it does, it does not have the intensity, the same power that a negative or a painful experience has.

The will to live and avoid the pain is far stronger to the mind than a will to get a little more comfortable.

When it comes to leaving your comfort zone, it is all about the presence of punishment or an idea of a pain in the present moment.

One would think that humans, who have been educated, professionally trained and have been operating highly critical operations in various fields of life would be making decisions based on the facts, data and rationality.

Contrary to the expectation, People end up making all the decisions based on their personal evaluation of fears and pains.




Trust In Mind



There's no reality for the mind for the things that it did not observe or has not observed. Our mind never treats something as real blindly.

Our mind never trust or believe anything unless it is given with logical facts or experience something itself.

Does our mind believe Buddha, God, Jesus? No. it doesnt.

We were just being told there was Buddha, God, Jesus.

If we were to believe them and their serious teachings, we would have been abiding by them.

Knowledge And Mind



Knowledge is memory. Knowledge is conditioning. The knowledge of the past memories and experiences creates a background of our conditioning.

Since childhood, we have collected a huge storehouse of countless memories and carry this burden of remembrances with us living endlessly.

Having ‘known’ most of the things, our tendency to observe continues to diminish as perceiving can only happen on relative observation.

The mind could either be conditioned with previous memories or could be totally fresh if there was no previous remembrance.

Our attentions are noticing the movements in such a predictable manner that we all behave as if we are machines. In fact, we are like machines in the sense that we never actually know that we are behaving like machines.

Having known that the huge load of memories and experiences collected over our lifetime build a background from where the new observations are seen, it leaves hardly any room for much observation as we grow old.

We become a heavy load of old memories and experiences having known and seen almost everything in this world. Nothing can make us interested or excited as almost everything going on around us has already been known.

In a way, if existing knowledge is the deterrent for new knowledge, what is the way out?

You are what you see. What you see is what you already are. If you carry the load of your past experiences and view the world from such a background, you are nothing but a dead entity.

You are never going to look at the world with fresh eyes as long as you remain conditioned.

The ideas we collect as a part of our culture, nationality, religion and relations; all of these create conditioning in humans. They create a huge bag of Knowns.

There is no concept of time when decisions are made for action emerging out of an observation. The observation, decision making and action are all one integrated act happening in a timeless manner.

When the mind controls every little movement, it becomes tricky to identify if the new gained knowledge is a work of the mind itself or really some new insight.

We called the mechanism, the movement as the mind, which seems to the sum of everything observed, sensed or noticed.

Movement is the nature of life. Movements are the only things that will be noticed. Non-movement is death; it’s opposite of life, the movement. A death is when the attention is not, because movement means attention.

Being afraid of death, the mind wants to continue growing and expanding. Mind achieves its growth by making its copies and replicating itself by way of extension and inheritance.




Fear To Unknowns



Mind is insecure by nature. It tries to hold on to the things it knows. It is afraid of the unknown.

Fear and insecurities are our deep rooted emotions. All we do is driven by our subtle fears. The way we live in societies, enforce norms and rules, adhere strongly to our beliefs and behave with each other on daily basis has its roots in our fears.

The mind likes to be anchored to some fixed things or ideas. This anchor, this attachment is the home for the mind.

Taking the attachments away from the mind is painful. A mind resists pain.

Do we ever want to lose what we possess? What happens when we lose something? Don’t we feel pain? What happens when the government announces increase in taxes?

Doesn’t an increase in tax mean that everyone has to lose a part of what was in their possession? Is there any single person who is not uncomfortable with the idea of increased tax?

What happens when the company announces a bonus to its employees? Is there a single person who doesn’t want to get more of what one is attached to?

A mind feels safe and secure with the things that it already knows about. It feels insecure with unknown.

Holding on to our attachment to the known, we are continuing to feed our fears.

Every human being can be seen doing what he or she is habitual of doing; tirelessly! Afraid of unknown, the mind has a tendency to hold on to the fixed and stable ground, an anchor.

It is like moving a mountain to ask someone to leave the comforts of their language, culture, country or religion; they are the anchors that the mind attaches to.

The fear and insecurity is reflected in the need of the mind to be in control all the time. It doesn’t like to be controlled or bound, unless the bondage becomes a habit.

There was a known which was fearful and there was an unknown. When something is unknown, then nothing can be said about it. The only option is to jump in the unknown and get to experience it.




Attachments And Emotions



Non-attachment is not an I-don’t-care attitude. It's neither attachment, nor detachment.

If you like something a lot, then you are attached.

If you dislike something a lot, then you are attached too. You are attached to the dislike, the hate.

When you let go your attachment, you let go everything, every emotion, every feeling, every thought about the thing.

If you hate negative emotions, you're attached to them.

If you hate stress, you're attached to the stress. If you love stress like workaholic workers, you're attached to it too.

An object is nothing but its characteristics. A potato is something that looks like a potato, smells like a potato and tastes like a potato. Anything that looks like a potato, smells like a potato and tastes like a potato IS A POTATO.

Example: If you find potato in your food, you eat. If you happen to find it missing in something which should have a potato, you simply eat. If the potato cannot make you feel uncomfortable in any way, then you are truly non-attached to a potato.

Some religious people who decide not to eat potato replace every potato-based food preparation with raw banana. They really got rid of potato? A raw banana looks like a potato and tastes like a potato in a cooked food and therefore, is a potato.

The fact that the person eating such food enjoys all such potato-based dish with a raw banana shows a strong attachment to the idea of a potato.

A practice of not eating potato while continuing to replace every potato-based food with a raw banana is exactly what is not a non-attachment.




Learning Mechanics Of Mind



The most intrinsic learning mechanism of the mind is by observation of movements through comparison.

Imagine a blank paper. Nothing is there. Draw a mouse there. The moment a movement/new object is noticed, the memory storage is checked if it is something already known or not.

When the memory is checked, there could be two alternatives. Either the movement is similar to something already known or it is something entirely new.

If the mind knows a movement already, then it must also know the action to take because the remembrance must be of the previous movement as well as previous actions and all the associated activities.

As soon as a change in movement is observed, it is registered, evaluated, processed and therefore becomes known. Once known, a change ceases to be a change.

As long as there is sufficient knowledge of the movement, the mind continues to be in its comfort zone. It continues to carry out all the actions as it has been doing in the past which has a known pattern and a predictable outcome.

The process of making copies or replicating requires mind an ability of memorizing, recognizing, and comparing patterns. It has an ability of recognizing patterns and forms by identifying through symbols and names.

It makes sense to have just one thing as the origin or base of all movements, because then it becomes clear that only one kind of rule must exist which govern all the movements.

The mind has the ability to perceive and recognize patterns in both space and time.

The mind understands sound and other sensory patterns as easy as visual ones.

The mind can understand shapes, sequences:simple linear sequences as well as complex sequence of curves, the curvy motion signifying a sequence in time but can predict the probable trajectory of a moving object too.

The ability to understand and predict such complex sequence involving movement through time is not just a human privilege.

Throw a piece of a bread in air and a crow can catch it in mid-air showing the understanding of the complex time-based parabolic trajectory made by the flying food.

A dog does not need special training to catch a flying saucer or a ball in mid-air without a formal training.

The mind knows the patterns and sequences. There is no concept of any simple or complicated pattern for a mind. If a pattern is observed, the mind can operate on it by remembering, naming, recalling and comparing with ease.

When faced with a particular piece of music heard initially in the sound of a violin, the mind can recognize the same pattern even if played with a different instrument such as a piano or a trumpet.

A mind can associate songs with their tunes and can recognize even if hummed by someone. Mind understands the visual patterns in the same way.

Once familiar with alphabets of a language, the mind can understand the letters written in thousands of different handwritings. It is the pattern that the mind cares for, all other variations surrounding the central pattern are simply ignored.

Mind, being one with the patterns and sequences is at ease with music, stories, and numbers in many interesting ways. It can sort random arrangements of objects and put them in orderly manner.

The mind's fluent in understanding, remembering and recalling the patterns, copying and imitating are its inherent qualities.

The mind can copy or imitate itself because it can remember the patterns. With an ability to copy or imitate, mind is able to grow and expand at its will.

There is another way the mind makes things easier for itself. It is by way of integrating all the observed movements as one. Proximity: Things too close together are clubbed together.

Mind doesn’t need a completely ideal pattern or sequence in order to recognize or repeat a pattern or a sequence. A slight variation in a pattern is ignored and the overall pattern is still seen as a similar pattern.

A written word with a spelling mistake is recognized as easily as the one without a mistake.

Every human face is different, yet all are recognized as human faces. There are hundreds of different models of telephone in the market, but the mind recognizes them all as phones by looking at the key pattern being the same in all of them.

A pattern can be slowly changed over time in such a way that the mind never recognizes the change. This is used to control the minds of the masses by introducing them to any big changes so slowly that they fail to realize themselves being controlled.

All humans have a tendency to understand patterns and can be made to mold to machine-like behavior, it seems to be the obvious choice. All minds are the same; what works for one can work for all.

The mind can easily see the patterns everywhere, but it fails to see its own patterned behavior. The Observer can’t observe itself.

When we are conditioned to behave in a particular way, we are not observant, not aware. Any act done unaware cannot be an intelligent act. A conditioned mind is not intelligent mind.

The power and ease of mind to use symbols is immense. Like a magic spell, with one word, sound or a symbol, mind can recreate the whole associated pattern or sequence along with emotions. To a mind, a symbol is same as the pattern it is associated with.

To a mind, a symbol is no different than the pattern it is associated with.

If X represents a thing, then X is same as the thing. One may not be bothered if a piece of paper is burned in front of him. If the same paper happens to symbolize the currency he understands, he will find it strange and feel sad for the waste.

If the same paper happens to symbolize the flag of the country he associates himself with, he may become emotional, aggressive or even murderous.

A symbol is not different than the thing it represents. A symbol of a flag is a symbol of the country one associates with; a country is another symbol one associates with is a matter of pride, honor and worth killing or dying for.

A word is a symbol too. It is associated with its interpretations. Using a word is same as using all that the word conveys. This is how language works.

In reality a word is just a symbol. A word is not the thing.

But we have accustomed of using symbols to such a large extent that we get energized and aggressive on hearing some words that we don’t like.

A word is all that it conveys; if the word is a representative of an abuse, the word is an abuse. The mind does not discriminate between the word and the idea it’s associated with. A word is the thing for the unaware mind.

The very first encounter to any movement is a fresh encounter because there is no previous knowledge or memory to cloud the observation.

But as soon as the movement and the associated pattern or action, experience and emotions are observed, it is stored in the memory as knowledge.

A later encounter with the same symbol allows the mind to recreate the memory and relate it to the known experience.

Let us imagine a child having a chance to see and play with a balloon for the first time.When such a child sees the balloon in future, he does not play with it with as much interest as it played with it on its first encounter.

The mind takes its infatuation with symbols to such heights that symbols mean more than the things they stand for.

For centuries, people of various faith have symbolized their beliefs in God through different symbols. Hindus believe in various forms of gods and worship them in form of statues and pictures in temples and homes.

The belief in the symbolic form of God is to such a great extent that the symbol means more to them than the real thing it stands for. They would die in order to protect the symbols, even though a symbol by itself should not mean anything.

A symbol is like an image in the mirror; you may try to hit the image but it cannot do any harm to the real object.

Religious attachments to symbols don’t see the facts in the light of rational arguments; a symbol is more of a God than the God itself. Symbols mean more than the things or ideas they symbolize.

At an interview, the clothes and looks will symbolize many obvious interpretations and someone without proper attire will not be taken seriously. Their clothes will symbolize who they are, more than they themselves.

A well written resume will have more impact than ordinarily written resume. The format, language, arrangement and the keywords will decide if the candidate is going to be shortlisted for the interview, even if everything in the description is a lie.

There are thousands of experts advising everyone to write better resumes, because a well written resume is a better candidate than the candidate itself.

This laziness of the mind is very well understood by shrewd people, thieves, imposters, politicians, magicians, businessmen and artists.

They influence the masses by taking advantage of this weakness by means of manipulating their clothes, language, accent, behavior and personality.

In short, the mind holds on to symbols and names in place of the things and ideas those symbols and name stand for. To a mind, a symbol is more real than the reality.

What we call as learning, knowledge and education is simply our conditioning by the social institutions by making us learn different symbols and their associations in the fields of science, religion and social interchange.

In order to be free of conditioning, the mind will have to become aware of this shortcoming. A pure observation devoid of any conditioning is the key to end this deep sleep of unawareness.

The mind is brilliantly smart, it knows what changed and what has not. What has not changed does not need its attention. The attention is always on what is changing.

The non-changing is the backdrop. As the time progresses, the noticing of the current changes or the movement becomes the part of the known. Once known, the mind does not need to pay attention, becomes part of the stored knowledge, memory and therefore th

An unconditional observation was a blank backdrop with no memory of the past. On the other side, a conditioned observation was always with the burden of the past memory.

A mind which continues to thrive for new excitement, new task to avoid the boredom is a conditioned mind. A mind with no memory of the old can never get bored, because all the movement under observation is always fresh.

As an attention falls on a movement, it becomes part of memory and knowledge, a process that takes time. As the observation continues the reference gets modified with the updated backdrop of knowledge and memory.

As new information continues to become old in the process of memory and knowledge building, the mind continues to be restless, trying to ‘look’ for another movement.

A mind which continues to thrive for new excitement, new task to avoid the boredom is a conditioned mind. A mind with no memory of the old can never get bored, because all the movement under observation is always fresh.

When someone notices something, you know that the observation must have two components, the change or movement noticed and the background of noticing. The background is what one’s conditioning is.

In other words, a background (of observation) is what one is. What is noticed is nothing but the differentiation on the backdrop of one’s conditioning

The observer cannot see itself. The observer is nothing but the background of all the conditioning in terms of memory of past experiences and habits.

Emotions are the bodily reactions to our Thoughts.

Emotion is triggered insides the heart via generation of specific rhythms.

As we experience feelings like anger, frustration, anxiety and insecurity, our heart rhythm patterns become more erratic.These erratic patterns are sent to the emotional centers in the brain, which it recognizes as negative or stressful feelings.

When we experience heart-felt emotions like love, care, appreciation and compassion, the heart produces rhythm like like gently rolling hills.

Harmonious heart rhythms, which reflect positive emotions, are considered to be indicators of cardiovascular efficiency and nervous system balance.

Thus, it is ulmost important not to even start doing something for fun if that something is not your desired activity for your life.

As for thought action, since we can't control it, spend more time or get yourself busy with actions that produce new desired thoughts you're hoping to get.




Managing Negative Thoughts



One is to just observe and let it pass.

Another is to actually dialogue with it. See if there’s any truth in that thought. 

A third way is to replace a negative thought with a positive thought or action like doing quick pushups or meditation.

If a certain thing that happens frequently in your life makes you angry—or triggers thoughts of self-loathing, negative self-talk, or second-guessing yourself—you can use that trigger and instead attach a different thought to it.

When it comes to looking at the nature of your thought or your emotion for that matter, any number of times in your life, it has made you believe so many things and after little bit of time it makes you feel like a fool for what you believed yesterday. 

Both your thought and emotion are tremendous instruments of deception. They can make you believe just about anything.

Your mind will make you believe different things at different stages in your life and firmly believe that is true.

In this mind, you don’t have subtraction and division, you only have addition and multiplication. If I say, “I don’t want this emotion,” it will add – one will become two.

If you say, “Oh my god! It’s coming again, I don’t want it,” it will multiply by hundred. This is the nature of your mind. In this mind, you cannot forcefully remove anything. 

What you need to do is understand that thought and emotion are just a recycle of the data that is already there – something that you remember. It is just that memory is a little smelly, so it keeps coming. You just need a little distance from that. 

As long as you are in the mind, you are ruled by the past, because mind is just an accumulation of the past.

All the influences of the world are entering you only through the instrument of the mind.

Your mind is society’s garbage bin because you have no choice about what to take and what not to take. 

Whoever goes that way throws something into your head.

You need to shut the garbage bin and keep it aside.

For the untrained mind, self-awareness is weak and delayed. We have a negative thought or emotion, and only after being engaged with it for a while do we really see it more clearly and free ourselves from its clutches.

With the repetitive practice of meditation, as well as mindfulness in daily life, we start noticing thoughts and emotions in real time, as they are happening. If fear comes, you are aware that fear is there. If anger comes, you're aware anger is there.

With that recognition comes increased space between you and your thoughts. From that space, you can dialogue with your thoughts, act on them (if needed), let them go, or change them.

With more meditation practice, you notice the thoughts/emotions before they express themselves or control over you in lengthy time. That gives you an even greater pause. All these pauses empower you to respond, rather than react.

Meditators pause before reacting. Meditators know the difference between “my thoughts” and “me”.

You are not your thoughts. You are the observer of your thoughts —the conscious subject, awareness itself. Thoughts come and go, but you stay. You are there before a thought arises; you are there while the thought is unfolding; and you are there always.

Through consistent meditation practice, we realize that we are the witness of thoughts (rather than the thoughts themselves). That is why we can let go of them, and bring our attention back to our breathing or our mantra.

You attract to all the things you want and love. Those things attract back to you.

The moment you notice judding someone, just give loving kindness meditation.

The moment you notice you are judging yourself,assume it as natural process, let it pass and focus back on current task, breathing, or mantra.




Winning Depression



Though meditation helps reduce emotional issues, it can worsen it in early days of meditation.

Thoughts do not have much pulling power so if you're aware of what you're thinking, thoughts are more likely to disappear by themselves without introducing new related or subsequent thoughts.

Depressive emotions have pulling power depending on how long it has built insides you.

Depressed or stressed emotions have stronger pulling powers. You can't simply avoid them just being aware of them.

Depression is stemmed from days, months, years of suppressed emotions and we thought bing eating and neflixing or whatever usual activities we do in our free time will cure them but no, never.

The more you're aware of these emotions, the more you become attached to them immediately. The more you're attached to them, the more they stay with you every second of your life. They'll never go away.

The key to wining them is just to cut them immediately and redirect your attention to positivity.

If the worry is solvable, start brainstorming. Make a list of all the possible solutions you can think of. Try not to get too hung up on finding the perfect solution.

If the worry is not solvable, accept the uncertainty. If you’re a chronic worrier, the vast majority of your anxious thoughts probably fall in this camp.

During your worry period, challenge your negative thoughts by asking yourself:

What’s the evidence that the thought is true? That it’s not true?

Is there a more positive, realistic way of looking at the situation?

What’s the probability that what I’m scared of will actually happen? If the probability is low, what are some more likely outcomes?

Is the thought helpful? How will worrying about it help me and how will it hurt me?

What would I say to a friend who had this worry?

Definition Of Mental Factor



Mental factors are aspects of the mind that apprehend the quality of an object and have the ability to color the mind

It can be mental event or state.

It has phenomena arising from the mind, suggesting that the mental factors are not primary to the mind but arise within a larger framework.

It has the ability to color the mind in dependence on the way it manifests.




Initial Mind Vs Mental Factors



Think about the mind mind as the mind of an infant. Without the introduction of facts, ideas, knowledge, data, the mind is clean and free of any prejudices.

When ideas, and knowledge are introduced, mental factors are being formed, concurrently co-existing with the main mind.

Mental factors are defined as aspects of the mind that apprehend the quality of an object, and that have the ability to color the mind.

The main mind is like the screen in a cinema, and the mental factors are like the images projected on the screen. In this analogy, we typically do not notice the screen because we are so caught up on the images.

The main mind is like a king who sits passively on a throne, and the mental factors are like the king's busy ministers.

Buddha said: “The mind in its natural state is pure. It becomes polluted due to adventitious pollutants that enter through the senses.”

Think about the times of very young babies whose minds are very clean.




Five Universal Mental Factors



Referred to as universal or omnipresent because they operate in the wake of every mind situation.

If there is no sparśa (contact), then there would be no basis for perception.

If there is no vedana (sensation), there is no relishing of the object.

If there is no saṃjñā (perception), then the specific characteristic of the object is not perceived.

If there is no cetanā (volition), then there is no movement towards and settling on the object.

If there is no manasikara (attention), then there is not holding onto the object




Five Object-determining Mental Factors



The five factors are referred to as object-determining is because these factors each grasp the specification of the object.

Chanda - desire (to act), intention, interest

Adhimokṣa - decision, interest, firm conviction

Smṛti - mindfulness

Prajñā - wisdom

Samādhi - concentration




Virtuous Mental Factors



Sraddhā - faith

Hrī - self-respect, conscientiousness, sense of shame

Apatrāpya - decorum, regard for consequence

Alobha - non-attachment

Adveṣa - non-aggression, equanimity, lack of hatred

Amoha - non-bewilderment; lack of a feeling of being perplexed and confused.

Vīrya - diligence, effort

Praśrabdhi - pliancy; adaptability (e.g physical pliancy of your yoga teacher, or the mental pliancy of a national spelling bee winner.)

Apramāda - conscientiousness; the quality of wishing to do one's work or duty well and thoroughly.

Upekṣa - equanimity

Ahiṃsā - nonharmfulness




Changeable Mental Factors



Kaukṛitya - regret, worry,

Middha - sleep, drowsiness

Vitarka - conception, selectiveness, examination

Vicāra - discernment, discursiveness, analysis




Six Root Unwholesome Factors



Kleshas are mental states that cloud the mind and manifest in unwholesome actions. Kleshas include states of mind such as anxiety, fear, anger, jealousy, desire, depression, etc.

Rāga - attachment

Pratigha - anger

Avidya - ignorance

Māna - pride, conceit

Vicikitsa - doubt

Dṛṣṭi - wrong view




Unwholesome Mental Factors That Obstruct Quietness



Krodha - rage, fury

Upanāha - resentment; a feeling of anger because you have been forced to accept something that you do not like

Mrakśa - concealment, slyness-concealment; concealment of behaviour that is clever in order to deceive people and get what you want

Pradāśa - spitefulness; the quality of wanting to annoy, upset, or hurt another person, because you feel angry towards them

Īrṣyā - envy, jealousy

Mātsarya - stinginess, avarice, miserliness

Māyā - pretense, deceit

Asāṭhya - hypocrisy, dishonesty

Mada - self-infatuation; having excessive pride or vanity based on attachment to one's own good fortune, such as possessing youth, good health, or material wealth.

Vihiṃsā - malice, hostility, cruelty, intention to harm

Āhrīkya - lack of shame, lack of conscience, shamelessness

Anapatrāpya - lack of propriety, disregard, shamelessness on one's misconduct

Styāna - lethargy, gloominess

Auddhatya - restlessness of mind which is associated with passion-lust (raga) that gets involved with things considered to be enjoyable. Its function is to obstruct quietness

Āśraddhya - lack of faith, lack of trust

Kauśīdya - laziness, slothfulness, a state of physical or mental inactivity; lethargy; reluctance to work or make an effort

Pramāda - defined to not apply oneself earnestly and carefully to adopting a wholesome attitude and abandoning unwholesome actions.

Muṣitasmṛtitā - forgetfulness

Asaṃprajanya - non-alertness, inattentiveness

Vikṣepa - distraction, desultoriness

Is Human's Mind That Damn Bad?



The Nature has done its job of evolution from single-celled animal to the ultimate form of intelligent animal - the Human.

The Nature also has given us the intelligence to be able to think distinctively unlike 99% rest of other animals.

The Nature also has equipped us with both wholesome and unwholesome mental factors, which many of them are more flavorful unlike 99% rest of other animals.

Since the Nature has done its job of 90%, the rest of 10% should seem to be our responsibility to transcend the level of the mind.

It seems to be our responsibility to make conscious deliberate efforts to trigger wholesome mental factors at all time as possible.

In other words, it could even seem to be the purpose of the Nature that intends us to go to this direction.

A key question is: Why is that Nature so intelligent?
